Some of you know I do a LOT of driving for work, but I’m a huge rail and cycle enthusiast.
Aside from the obvious cost of rail in the UK, I am curious how our Asian and European friends see the cost of cycling in their respective countries.
In the UK for a standard road bike, from a reliable brand and reputable reseller, for something that you can consider a ‘workhorse’ - how much are we talking to buy new?
In the 90s you could get a decent Raleigh road bike (when they were good) that would last a generation of being used daily for around £200-250.
Now I’m looking at bikes which you’d consider entry level at the £400-500 mark. What doesn’t help is that the models sold here often have cheaper components than those sold in other markets, too.
