Arduino is basically an attempt to make embedded development easier to learn for your average programmer. a casual look at some Arduino source code tells me that the engineers who are working on it aren't that good at analog stuff. they expect circuits to behave ideally. "ugh, the stupid analog components don't behave logically! i'm going to shove that off to a corner."
