The dragging sound began. Again, not registering.
It's a headboard with a shelf over-top that's almost two feet deep. I had the bust situated as the centerpiece of the headboard. I sleep on the left side of my bed.
I opened my eyes. In the pale morning light, I made out the white tip of a little tail and the top of the bust coming over the edge of the headboard. Directly over my face.
