Unsurprisingly, young folks are "relying on the bank of Mom and Dad" more these days. Much of it is due to rent hikes, inflation on necessary goods, and stagnated worker pay (things the article largely omitted).

But the rise in discretionary spending on "retail therepy" cannot be ignored. "Increasingly, there are memes like 'retail therapy' or 'little treat culture' equating mental health with impulse spending," which is #consumerism bullshit at it's finest.
