It's interesting how certain trends keep going around until people return to old wisdom. Just be authentic, the pack leaders now say. These cheap marketing trends are so short-lived.
Or, as the Prophet, peace be upon him, imparted to us as timeless wisdom:
"One of the most evil of people is the two-faced person who shows one face to these people and another face to those people."
