I have an HVAC technician in looking at my system. Auxiliary heat came on on days when the outside temperature was 50°F. That shouldn’t happen.
Modern thermostats like my #ecobee add a whole level of complexity that these installers have to cope with. It’s not just the machinery, but the computer on the wall. And the computer on the wall talks to the cloud. So it’s hard to know why things are happening.
Hell, for all I know there was a bug in the ecobee firmware, they’ve already pushed a patch that was automatically installed, and technicians all over the country are getting called out for nothing due to the same bug.
