But if my Android phone is stolen or the phone screen goes out and I need to put the SIM in a different device — or even in a dumb phone, I can still count on it working to send a text message. Or I can call a carrier to assign the line to that device. I don’t then have to try to track down a bunch of Apple websites that I might not be in a position to access just to send a text message.
