Some #TechHistory for you.

So this evening, I was remembering an amazing piece of tech I saw at a very rich person's home back in 2005 - a Sony wireless, portable TV and Internet device. The person actually owned 3 of the wireless "tablets" and it also had a base station.

But I couldn't remember the name of the product.

This eve, did a bit of research, and found the Sony AirBoard, a failed Sony product from 2000 and 2001.

That wasn't it. Did more research. And found it.

Anyone remember Sony's "LocationFree" TV system? I consisted of a base station, and a wireless bulky tablet device with an LCD touch screen. It was seriously amazing tech for the time. It could transmit your home's TV reception wirelessly to the device, anywhere you had an Internet connnection, worldwide. It also had a web browser, and you could hook up a keyboard and mouse to it.

This was the media consumption tablet before media consumption Android and iOS tablets existed... about 6 years later.

Here's a C|Net Review of the 2nd Generation of LocationFree TV from Sony
