one of the big changes for me with my late switch to Virtualizing Everything™ was how much less permanent my hardware setups become. it's less a pain in the ass to rebuild a server when you can relatively quickly restore everything that was running on it. and I'm still doing all that by hand, not even automating it. but the increase in flexibility is so worth it.
