As an autistic person, the amount of gaslighting I have endured around food preferences is actually mind boggling.
"Just pick it off"
"Eat around it"
"It's not that bad"
"Scrape it off"
"You'll like it, I promise"
"You're being dramatic"
The wild part is, the majority of people have at least one food they HATE. They can't stand it, they hate the smell, it ruins all food it touches. AND YET, most of these people will still treat me this way. If you hate mustard, for example, and anything mustard touches is ruined for you, how hard is it to understand that I feel that way, just about more types of food?
