Although I'm not regularly active here, mostly dropping in when I've actually done some hobbying, I share your fondness for its non-algorithmic nature, the focused/niche natural of Mastodon communities, and the slower pace.
For me this fondness could just be a part of getting older, but it's also... exhaustion with social media and its increasingly runaway problems. I prefer it here.
