Ok, I joined a discord server (sic) for #meshtastic, spent enough time with it to grokk its schtick. It's as I expected, very myopic, narrow focus for tightly detailed very short term conversations (EDIT: speaking of discord here, not meshtastic). It's good at that -- but omfg the fkn gigantor blinking flashing childish graphic things, seriously wtf.
Actually my login there is a couple years old, the few servers I used have disappeared I guess. Whatevs
