Curator of Mastodon.art fediblock :newt: (npub1wc2…4sk7) npub1lksxw7gqy3tyvzvzv4wn0he6045z7k68nhnlec9tz4njkk3xdfmqp8a4mq (npub1lks…a4mq) 0xa1baa1baa1baa1ba (npub19zq…u4m5) What benefit does a microkernel provide which you cannot reproduce by implementing your kernel in a memory-safe language (let's take Lisp since there's a lot of precedent there) with adequate error handling semantics?

Driver restarts? Concurrency? Literally interpreting a driver because you don't feel like (or forgot to) compiling it? Privilege isolation via object-capability-like mechanisms? All feasible.

(Not just feasible, these have all been *done* before.)
