You ever try to write a DM introducing yourself to someone else you found on the fediverse, and realize the “reason” at the end is that you both have similar interests? I ran out of any reasons beyond that and worry that a “hey! We have these similar interests, just wanted to introduce myself!” seemed pointless. Without the intro, though, a follow feels more like an anonymous “subscribe” than a “let’s talk about these topics!”
