As Orwell's "1984" taught us, language matters. Whether the press says "women and children were slaughtered by fighters" for one side of a conflict versus "people were killed" (passive voice, no killer(s) named) for similar deaths on the other side, skews where our sympathies lie.

The Intercept does an incredible job analyzing a thousand articles and postings on the Israel/Gaza conflict to show that bias in action.
