Totally this. After having been in bands for many years, when I started making music again after a break, I got myself “all the tools”. Then I sat there. I had no idea where to even start, and all my ideas which had triggered my “re-start” were gone with the wind.
So I started making music on mobile devices (iOS). Turns out they have a million limitations (though not near as many limitations as Android devices…due to how audio/midi is treated at core level in Android), but those limitations turned in to creative challenges/triggers, and all of a sudden I created music again whilst solving problems.
Fast forward a couple of years and the music creation “scene” for iOS is booming. Some amazing instruments and DAWs are out there, I use my iPad as the main guitar amplifier these days etc.
