Was Syriana celebrated for the absolutely phenomenal film that it is, 20 years ago? I don't feel like it was, but I could be misremembering it's general reception. I do remember watching it at the time and thinking it was very complex and visceral. I didn't know enough about that world then to understand just what the film was saying and how forcefully it had said it.
