Those of us from immigrant families have all probably been told at some point to “go back where you came from”—I certainly have. And it doesn’t matter if we were actually born where we live, if we are a bit too “ethnic.” And we joke that ignorant racist settlers would probably tell Indigenous folks to “go back where you came from,” too.

It never occurred to me that that’s actually real, until now.
