The thing that gets me is how cheap it all is. A few tens of thousands of dollars here, a million dollars there.... this is shake-out-the-couch money for the oligarch crowd, it's nothing. Why bother worrying about regulation or regulators at all when you can buy out the whole legislative apparatus for pennies, saying it's all legal because you bought the laws too?
Wealth taxes, high marginal tax rates, these are national defense issues for democratic societies.
