Stargate, the $500 billion dollar AI data centre project, has nothing to do with Trump, despite his name being slapped onto it.
A majority? of Stargate funding comes overseas, via MGX (UAE) and SoftBank (JP).
I believe the hope is that by attaching Trump's name to it, he turns a blind eye to the foreign investment.
As for why "Stargate" and not "OpenAI", I think OpenAI is slowly trying to distance itself from M$ ownership.
