On my way to discuss planetary boundaries at the Ministry for Research in Bonn, I had an hour at Magdeburg, enough for a quick dip into the city - so ancient, often tragic. After bombs (against fascists) and subsequent stupidities, one can't say it's beautiful, mostly.
But Hundertwasser's last building definitely stands out.
At the cathedral, carved ornaments are stored outside, the (partially new) bells inside, for now. It houses the remains of the first emperor, Otto the Great, since 973.
