Today I found a young deer in the back field with a broken leg. I called the RSPCA who took lots of details then said they couldn't help. They put me on to a wildlife charity. At the other end of the country.
I called them anyway to ask for advice. They said the RSPCA has a legal obligation to arrange to have the deer culled, as trying to rescue it would give it a heart attack, that's not something they would do even if they were local.
I called the RSPCA again, still not interested.
