The Gregorian NY is set in winter for the Northern Hemisphere - a time of rest and renewal, followed by growth and hope for a new season. It's the natural time for a 'new year'.
Summer celebrations fall right in the middle of harvests for me. It's when I'm working long hard days and focused on the now - not the future, or the past.
But shorter days = less work and more time for planning, reflection, gratitude.
