Twighlore on Nostr: Okay. I CAN"T BRING MYSELF TO DO IT!!! I cannot honestly bring myself to sell my hard ...
Okay.
I CAN"T BRING MYSELF TO DO IT!!!
I cannot honestly bring myself to sell my hard stacked #Sats for a friggin car.
CAUTION! #RANT INCOMING.
*Steps up onto soapbox
I know that some of you are hardcore #motorheads but I am not. I see #cars as a massive #moneypit that will always end up as garbage. Spend a little it'll be garbage in a few years. Spend a lot and it'll be garbage in a few more years.
I remember seeing a my father with the same car for 20 years. I know how he maintained it. Helped him change the oil in it, got the tires rotated, and now and then had to replace something simple. But that was it.
Now, regardless of the care taken, a car has a few years, 10 at most. A 10 year old car is just an endless barrage of every single item falling apart. 90% of which did not exist in my fathers generation of cars. Its air sensors, internal computers, switches and buttons all #DesignedToFail at a specific time.
Its #over-technologization that is built to be thrown away.
And don't get me started on all the blinky alarms and screens in the newer cars...
*Sigh
*Stepping down from soapbox
So here's the deal. My old car finally went kaput. I have a large family that needs transportation. I could afford to buy another car (by selling #Bitcoin) but the only options I have are essentially spending $10k US on a used car that is going to be rift with problems and I'll have to throw away in 5 years or spend $35K on a new car that might have 15 years before I have to throw it away.
To add context: I live in Mexico ordering a Tesla or some special type of car isn't an option. Uber isn't an option. Taxis are but not really realistic.
I came here to rant and to #asknostr and all its super smart guys and gals of an out of the box solution. Leasing? Long Term Renting? How have you solved this issue in your own life?
Now a candle for naive ideas that my father, and the men and women who built shit to last, had about the future of transportation before the #ThrowAwayCulture of today...

quoting note1j33…gc3wwelp! My car finally bit the big one.
For years people have asked me why I don't just buy a new car. Why keep putting money in that old dump?
My answet: How many #sats did you #stack today?
But my mechanic just told me there's no way to bring her back from the dead.
Goodnight ole girl. You have carried me into and through many battles.
