My mom taking me to Kingston Point Beach, which is on a natural lagoon on the Hudson River. Across the lagoon was Jova Brickyard, and a bit further north was Hudson Cement, both of which emptied into the River. There dead fish floating by the score and the water smelled funny. They had those floaty lines to mark off the swimming area, and you could see tankers sailing up the River.
