I've just read someone describing their data as "post-cloud" and I like it!
It's not a binary point. I'm still a big fan of the open web but the idea that much of my data could be stored locally (and yes backed up to a service of my choosing) is appealing. It's not anti-cloud but instead up-ends the power distribution. It's my data, local first. What I choose to do with it is entirely on my terms.
