"Face" is a concept many Westerners have a hard time understanding at its depth in Chinese culture. As far as society goes, you are your family's keeper. Far East Asian media makes Western media look like the Disney Channel. I'm not excusing what he did, but I lived in Taiwan and worked there in media, art, and entertainment long enough to understand the intense unrealistic pressure put upon those in the spotlight.
