First, [Mostr](https://soapbox.pub/blog/follow-bluesky/ ), the #Fediverse bridge between #ActivityFed and #Nostr.

Next, [Bridgy Fed](https://fed.brid.gy/ ), the ***Fedivese*** bridge between ***ActivityPub*** and #Bluesky.

#w00t :)

So Ryan, thank you for this most valuable tool to bring people around the globe together in #DeSoc - creating (and curating, as you have) ***Bridgy_Fed is one of the very best things that the Fediverse has to offer people on both sides of the protocol divide, and I really don't think that there are enough **Thank you's** to go around for all of the *selfless effort* you've put into this service.

So as meek and perhaps insignificant as it may sound, ***THANK YOU!***

Ryan Barrett (npub1ytx…28uf)
[Bridgy Fed](https://fed.brid.gy/ ) status update time! It’s been a busy couple weeks. I’m happy to report that I’ve made solid progress on [three of my four goals from last time](https://snarfed.org/2024-05-09_53013 ) – reliability, delays, and bugs – and improved a number of other things along the way. Here’s a sampling:

  • https://github.com/snarfed/bridgy-fed/issues/978">Switched Bluesky => fediverse from polling to firehose. This made it way less flaky, and cut the 5-15m delay down to just seconds.

  • Fixed https://github.com/snarfed/bridgy-fed/issues/1038">fediverse => Bluesky getting stuck for many accounts. I took some shortcuts in my Bluesky infrastructure, and they came back to bite me. Still work left to do, but the user-visible issues should be largely fixed.

  • Various https://github.com/snarfed/bridgy-fed/issues/997">issues with https://github.com/snarfed/bridgy-fed/issues/995">finding the bot accounts, https://github.com/snarfed/bridgy-fed/issues/1017">following https://github.com/snarfed/bridgy-fed/issues/1058">them, https://github.com/snarfed/bridgy-fed/issues/1026">and https://github.com/snarfed/bridgy-fed/issues/1027">getting https://github.com/snarfed/bridgy-fed/issues/1052">bridging https://github.com/snarfed/bridgy-fed/issues/975">started.

  • Fixed https://github.com/snarfed/bridgy-fed/issues/1000">images in Bluesky => fediverse posts.

  • Implemented https://github.com/snarfed/bridgy-fed/issues/987">deleting posts, Bluesky => fediverse. (Fediverse => Bluesky was already working.)

  • Fixed https://github.com/snarfed/bridgy-fed/issues/1054">flakiness https://github.com/snarfed/bridgy-fed/issues/1011">bridging https://github.com/snarfed/bridgy-fed/issues/1032">replies, both directions.

  • Fixed https://github.com/snarfed/bridgy-fed/issues/993">links, https://github.com/snarfed/bridgy-fed/issues/957">mentions, and https://github.com/snarfed/bridgy-fed/issues/1013">hashtags, https://github.com/snarfed/bridgy-fed/issues/1062">both https://github.com/snarfed/bridgy-fed/issues/980">directions. Still some broken bits here, notably Bluesky => fediverse mentions, but otherwise these should be much better now.

  • https://conspirator0.substack.com/p/federation-and-political-spam">First pass at spam filtering. Sigh.

  • Apart from the firehose, one notable area I *haven’t* focused on yet is [infrastructure](https://github.com/snarfed/bridgy-fed/issues?q=is%3Aopen+is%3Aissue+label%3Ainfra ). It’s scaling ok so far, but it could be a lot better, and a lot more efficient. I’ll need to work on that soon. If you see a bit of time go by without many user-visible improvements, that’s probably what’s happening.

Otherwise, thanks for all the feedback and questions and [bug reports](https://github.com/snarfed/bridgy-fed/issues )! Please do keep them coming. As always, you can follow the [*now* label in GitHub](https://github.com/snarfed/bridgy-fed/issues?q=is%3Aopen+is%3Aissue+label%3Anow ) to see what I’m focusing on. See you on the bridge!
