In the last week, people responded to this threat by coming together. Many thanks to the Fire Department, the United Way and many others who pulled together, donated, and are supporting affected families.

Online, I am watching people quit Facebook out of very real concerns for their safety. We all, especially those of us who are least affected, owe it to our digital neighbors to not let them just disappear but to work together and maintain strong relationships we will need in the coming years.
