Oof.
"...any time someone transitions; all your cis people just find a reason to be elsewhere. You try to think that it’s not -phobic, you tell yourself you’re paranoid, you tell yourself they’re busy, but the impact is cumulative, and there’s an ache."
This. Article. Is. Soooooo. Good.
Read it.
The feminism Jude is describing here is as exactly the feminism I find myself at as I can find. It's the rage in A Short History of Trans Misogyny at "flaccid" and "impotent" white feminism that does nothing more than try to erase any future in which trans people exist.
And I really believe that this is the crux of why cis feminists cheerlead TWAW (fucking ignoring trans men and enbies) while totally abandoning us to be eviscerated by conservatives. Why their activism talks about, but never actually protects, us.
They see us all as unnecessary.
This is the rage I feel when trans people eviscerate other trans people for fairly small impurities in their politics or history or just because they can: trans folks taking on white feminism, and seeking to push themselves up by punching down at their siblings.
To put it plainly: I don't want to earn equality with cis men. I want to take away the ability for any person to have the power, as Jude says, of the boot over any other.
None of us is free until all of us is free.
And FUCK I wish we could band together in a way that actually got us there.
And finally:
What Jude says here is a keystone illustration of why I hope the phrase "transmisogyny exempt" will go die in a fucking fire. Anyone who honestly thinks trans men don't experience ridiculous levels of gendered oppression isn't fucking looking.
