Yep, that's why I added that (unrealistic) in there. The AI will need to be coded with a disregard for personal intrinsic value.
I think Schlock Mercenary touched on that once (or somebody); an AI self-mobile bomb was programmed to seek happiness, and happiness was defined as blowing up the named target. Depression would set in if the AI wasn't actively trying to be happy.
