for an older device, I'd be tempted to preserve the original drive (take an image) and then wipe it. Possibly even put the original drive aside and replace it with a newer SSD.
You never know if you might need things like drivers / software that are hard to get these days.
edit: but no, I have no interest in snooping on people's personal data.
