Are we talking modern MacBook Air or something from Intel? I believe hardware acceleration for VP9 on something like Big Sur w/intel doesn’t exist in Safari. You might need to do some trick to get YouTube to serve h.264 or h.265. Don’t remember offhand. 😵💫
