Today has been a long day and, in a sense, work-wise bipolar. I've encountered both terrible news and excellent ones, disappointments and great satisfactions.
At its core, I love my job. I relish creating, building, and providing others with the tools to advance their business in what I deem the most suitable way for their goals.
If I had chosen to work solely for accumulating wealth, I might have done so and would likely be much wealthier. My first (and only) employer complained because I created stable solutions, and for him, stability meant lesser profits. Naturally, I resigned because, for me, the goal is to offer valid and stable solutions—safe, solid, efficient, and based on open-source systems. I don't earn anything by selling licenses (I don't sell them), I don't acquire certifications to market myself as a consultant for product X, but I only provide solutions in which I believe, which I consider valid and suitable.
Many don't understand this, but in my view, they simply can't differentiate between "working for money" and doing things out of passion.
Clearly, we all need to work to live, but if that meant doing things against my principles, I'd rather change jobs.
