I was one of the "Fat Men" on our track team, doing shot mostly. For me it was a fun way to spend time with my high school friends and go to the occasional track meet. The other thing it did was to instill an appreciation for athletes who devote their all to getting that 16-pound hunk of iron as far down the line as possible.
