For general searches, I use DuckDuckGo, and find its results generally useful without a lot of ad-cruft. For precision searches (where I'm looking for sites with particular phrases, and use quote marks) I still find Google gives me better results, as it finds sites that DDG doesn't turn up (I think it does deeper web crawls) , and Google doesn't seem to throw up nearly as much ad-cruft on very specific searches.
