I’m a big fan of using #lofi and #chillhop as background #music to help me focus. But I’m starting to suspect that some of the music that I’m getting on these playlists are #AI generated, because their songs are formulaic and have moments of stilted or awkward arrangement that wouldn’t pass a sharp-eared editor.
Lofi music seems one of the easier genres to generate via AI, because they are by definition repetitive, and include a lot of noise and intentional imperfections. It doesn’t help that a lot of people use them for background music, so they don’t get a lot of scrutiny.
It always bothers me to find album artists that have zero hits anywhere on the web other than their music products.
Here’s an example: “home alone.” usually shows up as a “verified artist” that popped up six months ago. I can’t find any information on them outside their media. They are *way* too prolific, producing hour-long sets every week. https://www.youtube.com/@homealoneagain./videos
