I had the privilege of seeing James Earl Jones and Christopher Plummer perform Othello in 1981. I was only 13, so much of it was lost on me (I do recall Plummer's acid delivery of the "beast with two backs" line, even though I wasn't sure what all the fuss was about), but it was one of those rare instances where my dad would say "We're going to have an important experience. You should pay attention and remember this." I'm glad he did, and I'm glad I did.
