people love to be like, "yeah but the cops prevent all kinds of bad stuff!" and then start listing the kinds of crimes that cops don't prevent or solve, except in so far as cops just look for "the kind of person who looks like they'd do that thing" (people at various intersections of poor, black, mentally ill, homeless, &c., picked out more-or-less randomly on the street) and harass the shit out of them constantly
you can just say "but who will round up the homeless people!??" it's much clearer
