Just admit you never tried LoRa yourself.
Notice that all the pictures on the page you linked are taken on beautiful sunny days on high-located places without obstacles.
It is a nice gadget, good for the geekies.. just not really something you'll really use outside videos for instagram/youtube. Meshtastic has been criticized enough for holding back development on this topic if you ever pass long time inside the community.

But trust me that it won't really work for more than 100 meters inside a forest, with buildings or foggy/rainy days. I've tried it for months, maintained ground stations (which get damaged in less than a year). One thing is theory, the other is practice.
