#WritersCoffeeClub Ch 15 Nbr 09 2/2— Do you ever use particular punctuation characters like [, ], {, }, <, >, #, _, *? How do you use them?
So I was revising the current WIP and saw the excerpt below. I'm using square brackets for presumed words or meanings in conversations where neither party knows the other's language well. It's a riff on punctuation used when quoting and paraphrasing someone.
"[Something, a name?] demands we wear clothes, to hide [our nakedness?]. To keep women from tempting men [with wrong ideas?]. It's clear that you are His messenger."
"Rainy Days is a woman. His? Whose...? I don't know what you mean by messenger!" Now I was shouting.
