Having been unemployed for a year and a half now, I also think that there needs to be a much closer examination of what "doing nothing" actually means. Too many people count things that don't earn them money as "nothing", and that's a terrible disservice to the human psyche.

Taking time to enjoy the fruits of someone else's activities - and thereby giving them legitimacy and support - is just as "productive" as making or doing something oneself.

So many more things are "productive" than people seem to think, but they're too stuck in a capitalist mindset to recognize them as such.
