Being chronically early to new paradigms (even when they eventually go on to be successful) is quite costly.
Haven't yet thought through all the implications of the fact that survival is only granted to those who are early AND pre-positioned to take the long ride soaking up those cost.
Considering that the new paradigm's eventual successful future's experienced/expert class is populated by those in that position, the implications are significant!
