Many years ago, when I was getting started in woodworking I wanted to buy my first pneumatic nail gun. I chose a 18 gauge brad gun.
It was good choice, However, it only held up to 1 1/4 inch long brads.
Good choice, but limited on the length. It would show its limitations on certain projects.
If I were to suggest a first pneumatic gun for the beginner now it would be a 18 gauge nailer up to 2 inch in length.
This is a great all purpose nailer for the beginner as it can handle most fastening and needs a smaller compressor for air.
There are a few good brands: Dewalt, Senco, Metabo.
