Couldn’t the client do a checksum (for lack of better term, basically a local or strictly npub based) compare and contrast look up?
It could even be a manual trigger, a button the user presses to start the process.
Our follower list is public based upon npub (nsec) right?
So if my client periodically takes a snapshot of my contacts (followers) then at a certain interval takes another snapshot, the client could compare the two snapshots locally to identify which npub followers are new between snapshots (period a and b)
This would be a decentralized approach and use local resources instead of a server.
