¢нαяℓιє яσσт :arch: :openpepe: 🌶️ (nprofile…68an) Goalkeeper (nprofile…g20v) my hot take about Wayland:
The idea is good. X11 was fucking ancient, and had a lot of baggage. Starting a new, modern window compositor is a good idea. Apple did the same kinds of changes over the years, and everyone always pisses themselves like an excited dog every time it happens praising how they are making some painful but necessary changes that improve the system.
HOWEVER
The execution is dogshit. Wayland development is a mess, mainly because the devs involved are retarded and more preoccupied with ego fights and sucking their own dick than actually doing something. There are features that are being asked for YEARS and they simply don't want to even give them as an option because it "doesn't fit their vision". A Valve dev had to create a library to bypass them and allow for implementation of protocols without their input. Only then they stopped sniffing their farts and decided to improve how they implement the features being asked, because they got butthurt the guy dared to bypass them.
So yeah, it's a needed change, but it's a very bad implementation because OSS devs are, in the most part, absolutely retarded. Hopefuly Windows turning into shit bring some devs with more than two braincells and we will finally have a modern and decent compositor.
