But I got entangled in a detail. They had you wearing things with lace, yet they called you "princess" in a demeaning way? For my period-dress obsessed younger self, who never got to wear anything remotely like that, anything with lace would have been a princess dress! So what I read from your account was, they wanted you to be a princess, but only 'that' type of princess, not the 'other' type of princess. What a contradiction of expectations and narrow mold they had you in.

I read once an interpretation of the "princess and the pea" story, with the idea being that someone able to feel and notice even the smallest details is someone very important, someone to be valued and someone that you want to keep by your side (thus why in that story, it is wise for the prince to marry the princess that can feel the pea).

I hope this doesn't sound too weird (tired and not very good with words right now), but I hope you can find a way to express your princessness in the form that comes naturally to you. It is probably something very valuable.
