I never liked the drab beige color scheme of the late 80's and 90's computers.
To this day, it's still unattractive.
But that design opinion says something else to me, now.
It's a callback to a different kind of world.
It's a reminder of a different kind of niche, which the then-nascent technologies we now are overburdened by once occupied.
I don't want a beige computer because I like how it looks.
I want the world to go back to how it was, when computers were beige.
