Productive people think long term, delay gratification, invest in means of production instead. And reap great rewards from playing this as long as they can. They orient themselves around the truth of the market and the real world, else they fail.
Animals don't think much in general, they scoop up whatever there is to eat at the moment, and aside fron some notable exemptions don't save or consciously plan ahead. But they usually react as if they were thankful, when you hand them a treat. They orient themselves around the real world, else they die.
Socialists think they are morally superior, they scoop up whatever they can get from the state, then demand more. I have yet to see a socialist express sincere gratitude to those who produce what the socialists consume. They orient themselves around a world of deceit, else they would have to admit they aren't able to compete in the real world.
