This is why NIP-05 (authentication) was made so you know which accounts are legit and which ones are not. If you notice on my account there's a checkmark on my profile next to Craig@bitcoin-cats.ca ? Basically my website is telling the nostr protocol that this npub is the offical account. If you see a X next to my nip-05 (that Craig@bitcoin-cats.ca) then you know ether I don't have acess to that account, it's a fake account or rare case my website is down 😆.
